Zbird an I talked about this idea last year, so I'm just putting this out to see if there is any interest. If we could get 6 to 8 Texas TC owners to commit, it would be fun to have a Texas meet this Spring. I would suggest it happen before the hot weather, which means no later than April and at some location where no one would have to drive over 500 miles round trip to get there. If anyone is interested, PM me with your location, how far you are willing to drive, possible dates that would work best for you and I will see if I can come up with a time a place to suggest for a Texas TC'ers meet.

Sounds good to me. Now we have enough owners to make it fun. Just let me know when and where it is most convenient.

My Vintage Tbird club is having a convention in Austin in April 12 - 15 at the Crown Plaza Hotel. I will be there so you can check it out.

Interesting. My TC has been on jackstands since October, but if my freakin' torque converter ever gets here, I'd be down for a get together.
Probably would trailer the bird, though.

Zbird, I'll be sure to come by and see you when your in Austin. I went to a few vintage Ford/T-Bird events in the area last year (as a spectator only) and talking to the T-bird guys made it clear they weren't interested in anything made after 1969-70. We TC guys are definitely the redheaded step children of the T-Bird collectors/enthusiast crowd. But I think that will change with time. Are you planing to attend any other shows in the area this year like Georgetown?

I have made them believers and the South Central director is from my club. They actually sought me out to be a member of the club and appreciate my bird. They have members with every year T-Bird including T/C and SC. If you get a chance to talk to Buddy Cox, President of Capitol City chapter, he is a great guy and knows me well, he will definitely make you feel welcome. I always tell them my bird has the smallest motor and is the fastest!! LOL. I look forward to seeing you and your T/C there. I will call you and let you know the time and place we can get together.

I'll (hopefully) be moving to Hawkins soon. If we're all straightened around by then, I'll try to attend, depending on where the gathering winds up being.

Joe_F, If you are moving to Hawkins, you won't be too far away from anywhere, except El Paso. LOL. I am sure Lonstar7 and the rest of us will choose a location to suit everyone. I do have a suggestion of meeting at Texas Motor Speedway during the laps for charity event. There is a car show, Good resaurants and the chance to get the cars on the track. That would be around the first week in May. Just an Idea. I am open to hitting 6th street in Austin or something. Joe you may not be from Texas but you are trying to get here as fast as you can!

zbird, The Texas Motor Speedway event would definitely on my short list of possible places to meet, even though by the 1st week of May we may be into hot weather which I would like to avoid driving any great distance in but it hopefully wouldn't be too bad. One good thing about a north Texas location is that it might be possible to get some of the Oklahoma guy to come too, but it's going to make it a long trip anyone south of San Antonio. My idea was once we know who's interested in attending, plot their locations on a map and look at towns or locations that are roughly equidistant for everybody. We could probably come up with 4 or 5 possibilities to put up for consideration.

I was thinking about the ones south of San Antonio down to Houston. Its a 4 hr drive from those locations. I am open to driving anywhere as you know. We also have one in Odessa and that would be 4.5 hrs away. I am sure Vinnie would come down to meet up with us.

My car has a three core radiator and I have driven it in 110deg heat and have had no issues. If your cars cooling system is in good shape should not be a problem. Last year, it was a 92 deg day and sunny. It cooled down for the run on the track.

I'm not worried about the car overheating, I'm worried about me overheating. When I got the car the the R12 freon had leaked out. I did a quicky conversion to R134(I posted a thread about it) but I still have a slow leak, have to add some R134 each spring. It works great on my little weekend drives but it rarely runs for much more than a hour or 2. I do have some apprehensions about running it for long distances in the Texas heat. On my short list of things left to do on my car is to completely go through the A/C system and replace orifice tube, dryer, seals, etc but I probably won't get to it this spring. But, I guess if the A/C is the only thing that goes wrong on a long trip, it's not a deal killer, I'll just have to drive fast with the windows down.

Count me in also. I don't have a/c either, but I've been driving it around that way for a year. I'll see if my son can attend also. Plus I have a neighbor that has a '88 TC. So that's 1 more definitely and 3 possible.

Zbird, and all you other central Texas TC guys, I'm going to just throw out something for comment. Their is a old style Drive-In hamburger joint here in Austin that host 2 or 3 small car shows/shine&shows a year. It's call Top Notch Burgers;

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?pq=top...d=0CAwQnwIoAjAA

It's a bit of a landmark around here, been in a few movie ("Dazed And Confused" is one) and might be a possible place to meet If you'er in town in April. Zbird, you would need to get away from your real car show for a few hours to meet up there. I'd need to check with them, but I'm sure that we could get reserved space for our car's and maybe a little mention on there website assuming they aren't having another event scheduled at that time. Oh, and the burgers are good too!

That would be acceptable; I have a niece in Round Rock that I need to visit soon after our move anyway. The proverbial two birds with one stone!

Our move is scheduled for March 15, but may slip. I'll keep you informed.

I'm going to try and drop by Top Notch in the next week or so and see if I can talk to somebody in charge about having our get together there some time in April and see what the best dates for it might be. It looks we will only have 6 to 7 cars at the most, so I really don't think it would be a issue if we just showed up unannounced, but I don't want to interfere with another event that they might have scheduled.

Well, I finally in touch with the owner at the at the Top Notch drive in. He's all for us having a meet up at his establishment. I told him I was expecting from 5 to 8 cars to show, he said it should be no problem. They have a number of events on weekends in the spring, but Saturday, April 14 is clear. So if you guys are still interested, let me know and we can start ironing out the final details.

Here are some of my ideas so far:

Meet at the Top Notch around 2:00-2:30PM. That should give everyone enough time to make the trip, spend a hour at the meet, get back home in one day.

Since I'm near by and don't have to spend gas money and some of you will have a long drive, for all of those that show up I'll buy lunch at the Top Notch you and your wife/co-pilot/best bud if you bring them. By the way, here's the menu:
http://www.topnotchaustin.com/images/11TopNotchTOGOnew.pdf

We'll take photos and videos to post on the NATO site.

We could have a little swap meet too, if you have TC parts you are looking for, or things you want
trade, sell, or give away, we can post them here and bring them along to the meet if anyone's interested in those parts

If any out of towners are interested, we could take our TC's on a little curse around Austin, down by UT, the Capital, Congress Ave. to south Austin, then back around on the west side over the lake on the Capital Of Texas HWY. It would be a very nice drive on a spring afternoon if it's not raining (about 1hr).

Any additions, subtractions, adjustments you guys have, let's post them and start finalizing the details.

Looking forward you there!

Bank is messing around, my move is now delayed until March 30. I'm still going to try and make the meet, but it's getting iffy. Don't reschedule on account of me, though.

I don't think my car will be running yet. I'm getting married at the end of the month so I have no time to work on it. I hope this goes well and I can go next year or maybe a fall meet. Have fun
